Introducing Our New Sports Injury Recovery Program

I would like to introduce our Sports Injuries Recovery Program to you all.   Sports injuries can occur due to various factors, such as overtraining, poor technique, improper warm-up, or accidents during physical activity. These injuries can result in muscle pain and joint pain, as well as create limited mobility which can affect your performance and overall well-being. It is estimated that there are more than 1.1 million sports-related injuries treated in 2021 at emergency departments, and that more than 3.5 million children ages 14 and younger get hurt annually playing sports or recreational activities.

Five of the most common sports injuries that amateurs experience is: pulling a muscle, concussion, runner's knee, shoulder injuries, and ankle problems.

Our office approach to care includes a thorough assessment of your condition to determine the root cause of your discomfort and develop a personalized treatment plan to facilitate the healing process. Depending on your injury, I may use various techniques such as chiropractic adjustments, laser therapy, soft tissue therapy to reduce inflammation, alleviate muscle pain and improve joint function. As you progress with the healing process, corrective and support exercises will be introduced to continue enhancement of your strength, flexibility, and improve any biomechanical imbalance that you might have.  The overall goal is to reduce your pain, improve your spinal and nerve function and help you maximize your health, wellness and skills, as well as prevent future injuries. Our office wants to help you get back to the game, sport or other activities you love and enjoy so much.

I have always had a love for sports and outdoor activities, and I have had my share of injuries both from participating in sports and weekend activities. And sometimes we all need a little extra help in getting back into activities we love to do. During my time at Sherman College, I knew that when the time was right in my practice, I wanted to offer a sports recovery program, and that time has finally arrived.  I have post graduate studies in Chiropractic Sports Medicine from Texas College of Chiropractic. Examples of training include Upper body Golf injuries, Racquet Sport injuries, Strength and Exercise injuries (just to name a few). This program includes 100 hours additional training in sports medicine related to chiropractors.

The sport injury recovery program is an individualized session with a one-hour duration in which I (Dr. McCurley) will uses all the “tools” in the toolbox to help get you on the road to recovery and back into the activities that you enjoy. Many of our current patients have asked for additional support in recovering from injuries, and now I have an avenue in which I can provide that support without having to rush through our busy chiropractic adjusting schedule.  These appointments will be set up on any of our current days in the office, as well as our Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (just like your own personal trainer).

Please call our office to learn more about the program or to set up a consultation time to discuss your injury and recovery needs.

    Have an amazing day,

     Dr. K.D. McCurley

In a world where maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle is increasingly valued, the role of chiropractic care has become more prominent than ever. From professional athletes to everyday individuals seeking relief from chronic pain, chiropractic care offers a holistic approach to wellness that goes beyond just treating symptoms. Let’s delve into the transformative power of chiropractic care and explore how it can help you unlock the secrets to a healthier, more active life. Understanding Chiropractic Care: At its core, chiropractic care focuses on the relationship between the spine and the nervous system, recognizing the spine as the central highway for communication between the brain and the rest of the body. Through manual adjustments and other specialized techniques, chiropractors aim to correct misalignments in the spine, known as subluxations, which can interfere with nerve function and lead to a variety of health issues. Benefits Beyond Pain Relief: While many people initially seek out chiropractic care for relief from back pain, the benefits extend far beyond pain management. Regular chiropractic adjustments have been shown to improve joint mobility, enhance athletic performance, boost immune function, and promote overall well-being. By restoring proper alignment to the spine, chiropractic care helps the body function at its optimal level, allowing individuals to live life to the fullest. Empowering Patients to Take Control of Their Health: One of the core principles of chiropractic care is empowering patients to take an active role in their own health and well-being. Unlike conventional medicine, which often relies on medication and surgery to treat symptoms, chiropractic care focuses on addressing the underlying causes of health issues and supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself. Through personalized treatment plans and lifestyle recommendations, chiropractors work with patients to optimize their health and prevent future problems from arising. The Importance of Maintenance Care: Just as you wouldn't expect to achieve lasting fitness results with a single trip to the gym, optimal health and wellness require ongoing maintenance. Regular chiropractic adjustments not only help alleviate existing issues but also serve as a proactive measure to prevent future problems and keep your body performing at its best. Whether you're an athlete striving for peak performance or someone simply looking to improve your quality of life, incorporating chiropractic care into your wellness routine can make a world of difference. Final Thoughts: In a society where quick fixes and temporary solutions abound, chiropractic care offers a refreshing alternative—a holistic approach to health and wellness that addresses the root causes of health issues and promotes long-term vitality. By unlocking the secrets to a healthier, more active life through chiropractic care, you can experience the joy of living to your fullest potential, both now and in the years to come. Take the first step toward a brighter, healthier future by scheduling a consultation with us today. Your body will thank you for it!

Introduction: Women's health is a multifaceted and intricate subject, and one aspect that often takes center stage is thyroid health. The thyroid, a small butterfly-shaped gland located in the neck, plays a crucial role in regulating various bodily functions, including metabolism, energy production, and hormone balance. Many women grapple with thyroid issues, and the quest for effective and holistic approaches to managing thyroid health has led some to explore chiropractic care as a complementary option. In this blog, we'll delve into the connection between women's thyroid health and chiropractic care, exploring the potential benefits and considerations for those seeking a holistic approach to their well-being. Understanding the Thyroid-Body Connection: The thyroid gland secretes hormones that influence metabolism, heart rate, body temperature, and the conversion of food into energy. When the thyroid is imbalanced, it can lead to a range of health issues, including fatigue, weight fluctuations, mood swings, and more. Chiropractors approach thyroid health by recognizing the intricate connection between the nervous system and the endocrine system, which includes the thyroid gland. Chiropractic Care and Nervous System Support: Chiropractic care primarily focuses on the spine and nervous system, aiming to optimize the communication between the brain and the rest of the body. The spine houses the spinal cord, a crucial component of the central nervous system, which controls and coordinates various bodily functions, including those related to the thyroid. Misalignments in the spine, known as subluxations, may interfere with the optimal functioning of the nervous system, potentially impacting thyroid health. Research Supporting the Link: While more research is needed to fully understand the extent of the relationship between chiropractic care and thyroid health, some studies suggest a potential connection. Research has explored the impact of spinal adjustments on the nervous system and how this may influence hormone regulation, including thyroid function. Though not a direct treatment for thyroid conditions, chiropractic care may contribute to an overall improvement in nervous system function. Stress Reduction and Hormone Balance: Chiropractic care is also renowned for its stress-reducing benefits. Stress can have a significant impact on thyroid health, as chronic stress may contribute to hormonal imbalances and exacerbate thyroid conditions. By promoting relaxation and reducing stress, chiropractic adjustments may indirectly support hormone balance and overall well-being. A Holistic Approach to Women's Wellness: Chiropractic care should be viewed as a complementary component of a holistic approach to women's health. While it may offer benefits in supporting nervous system function and stress reduction, it is essential to work in conjunction with other healthcare professionals, including endocrinologists and primary care physicians, for a comprehensive treatment plan. Conclusion: For women seeking holistic approaches to thyroid health, exploring the potential benefits of chiropractic care is a worthwhile endeavor. While more research is needed to fully understand the intricacies of this connection, anecdotal evidence and some studies suggest that chiropractic adjustments may contribute to improved nervous system function, stress reduction, and overall well-being. As with any health decision, it's crucial to consult with healthcare professionals to create a comprehensive and personalized approach to women's thyroid health. Chiropractic care, when integrated into a broader wellness strategy, has the potential to empower women on their journey to optimal health and vitality. Introducing Our New Sports Injury Recovery Program

It’s no secret that many patients choose to visit us to overcome back or neck pain. However, chiropractors can also play an important role in supporting the performance and recovery of athletes of all skill levels. Here’s how! Improving Joint Mobility and Flexibility: Athletes require optimal joint mobility and flexibility to perform at their best. Chiropractic adjustments may help improve joint mobility by realigning the spine and reducing restricted movement. This may help reduce the risk of injury and enhance athletic performance. Enhancing Nervous System Function: The nervous system controls every aspect of the body, including movement and coordination. Chiropractic adjustments may help improve nervous system function by removing interference. This could help athletes respond faster and more efficiently to stimuli, improving their reaction time and overall performance. Reducing Inflammation: Inflammation can occur in response to injury or overuse and can interfere with athletic performance. Adjustments can help reduce inflammation by improving blood flow and lymphatic drainage, which can help speed up the healing process and reduce pain. Improving Muscle Strength and Endurance: Adjustments may help improve muscle strength and endurance by optimizing joint function. This can help athletes generate more power and perform at their best for longer periods of time. Athletic performance depends upon the ability to properly coordinate movement, endurance, and strength. These functions are all controlled by the nervous system. The brain generates the intent and sends the signals to the individual muscles to perform the activity intended. Any interference with nerve signals will decrease the athlete’s ability to perform at the highest competitive level. It is essential that the signals generated in the brain are transmitted clearly and cleanly to the intended muscles. Only then can those muscles perform the complex and exact movements necessary for athletic performance. Participation in any sport requires proper function of the muscles and the nerves that control them. A nervous system free from subluxations will allow for optimal performance in any sport, both on the highest professional level, and for the weekend enthusiast. Give Care a Try Whether you’re a weekend warrior, student athlete, or professional, we’d love to help.
